Do You Speak Chinese, Korean, or Spanish ? Become an Interpreter on Election Day!
The Renewal of the Voting Rights Act highlights the importance of integrating new immigrants by involving them in our nation's democratic process. Over a third of New York City's population are immigrants and nearly a quarter of New York City’s voting age citizens are non-English proficient.
This is your chance to help your fellow citizens exercise their right to vote. Adequate language assistance and translation can prevent non-English speaking voters from being disenfranchised.
In New York City, the Voting Rights Act mandates that Spanish, Chinese, and Korean-speaking interpreters be available for non-English proficient voters at designated poll sites. If you speak one of these languages, apply to become a language interpreter today!
If you would like to work on Election Day but not as an interpreter, we also encourage you to apply for other poll worker positions such as
Information Clerk,
Door Clerk, and
Inspector/Poll Clerk.
