Campaign season is upon us once again, and to ensure fair elections, the Citizens Union Foundation 2008 Poll Worker Recruitment Program is seeking passionate, civic-minded individuals to serve as poll workers for the 2008 elections. Each year, the New York City Board of Elections falls short of the 30,000 poll workers needed for Election Day operations--this is your chance to make a difference (and be rewarded too)! The 2008 Poll Worker Recruitment Program is seeking individuals to fill a variety of positions (see below) and the New York City Board of Elections offers compensation up to $460 for work throughout the duration of the election cycle. Poll Site Positions:
We are currently accepting applications for four Election Day positions:
- Inspector/Poll Clerk: Responsible for general oversight and operation of the poll site.
- Interpreter: Assists non-English speaking voters or voters with limited English proficiency by interpreting in their respective language (Spanish, Chinese, or Korean).
- Information Clerk: Directs voters to their correct Election District by referring to a directory.
- Door Clerk: Maintains poll site and ensures unauthorized personnel do not enter; enables disabled voters to access the poll site.
